The spatial-time characteristics of the wave field, representing a superposition of two components in which the waves obey different dispersion equations have analyzed. It is shown that the phase shift,
determined at two points of the two-component field, depends nonlinearly on the distance between these points, which leads to errors of determining the phase velocity. The dependence of the phase velocity
on the ratio of the spectra of free and bound waves on the scale of the second harmonic is constructed for the field of gravitational surface waves. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2020.
