Абстракт
In this work the current fields in the Sivash Gulf (Sea of Azov) are studied for different wind conditions. A numerical sigma-coordinate model of water circulation of the POM type with a spatial resolution of 300 m is used. Analysis of the results of numerical simulation showed that the structure of water circulation in the bay is determined by the general direction of the wind. The field of medium-depth currents consists of several eddy structures located in wide parts of the bay water area. The eddy structures are most pronounced in the southern part of the bay. With winds directed along the bay, water circulation is most intense. In these cases, a jet stream with velocities of more than 1 m/s occurs in the narrow places of the bay. © The Author(s).
