This paper presents the results of an analysis of the climatic fields of currents in the Sea of Azov, significant wave heights, and the power of the components of surface waves (purely wind waves and swell). This study was based on the methods of mathematical modeling using modern hydrodynamic and spectral wave models, taking into account the ice cover of the basin. The spatial fields of the velocities and directions of sea currents and the main parameters of wind waves and swell were obtained for the period from 1979 to 2020 with a one-hour time step. As a result of the research, it was found that an extensive cyclonic formation exists in the structure of climatic currents occupying the central and eastern parts of the sea; in the western part of the sea, the general motion of waters occurs in an anticyclonic gyre. Wind waves exceed the swell heights 2-2.5 times, and the swell power, by 5-10 times. Over the past four decades, the heights of wind waves and swell in the central part of the sea have decreased slightly, while in the western part they decreased. These tendencies are more obvious for the power of wind waves and swell, while the decrease in the power of the components of surface waves in the eastern part of the Sea of Azov is statistically significant.
